Is Everything Really Bigger in Texas?

Welp, the last week has certainly been an adventure to say the least! We journeyed down to Dallas, Texas to visit gramma and grampa Watkins. And what a crazy ridiculous GREAT trip it was! Traveling with a nearly 12 month old for 4+ hours in a car and an additional 2 hours on an airplane is nothing short of an absolute must for anyone's bucket list. Psyyyych. Even though I have been blessed with a baby who doesn't mind long trips and has had no previous problems on airplanes (putting a capital T in Trooper)....subjecting him to an all day event not realistic to the "daily routine" is always destined for disaster. Despite a baby fender bender on the way to the airport (good thing we were already running late), a complete baby meltdown soon after, and a leaky baby diaper post flight, we arrived. At least the view on the way was pretty :-)

While indulging in our mini vacay we got to experience some Texas High School Football. It was nothing short of spectacular. The half time entertainment consisted of not one but TWO miraculous high school marching bands. They each put on a fifteen minute show, lucky us ;-)

Following the football game, we fell into a spell of "sheer dumb luck" and "a series of unfortunate events". (Sorry for the movie quotes) (But I'm sorry I'm not actually sorry) Waking up to a baby burning up with a fever and wide awake grabbing at his poor little ears is nothing I wish upon any mother (or father!). Especially when you're not in a familiar place to find a legitimate Doctor or Hospital. The Baylor Medical Center turned out to be our golden ticket at 5 in the mornin! Poor Bubbz. Diagnosis = throat and ear infection. Ouchie. On a scale of 1 to 10, how terrible did I feel? Probably a 10.5 plus a dose of awful.

There's just nothing worse than having your baby get sick :-( And it's just my luck of course to have the 'need for medication' sickness happen while out of town. Go figure. A good dose of Antibiotics did the trick to help bring my little monster back to good health. Just in time for a pre-1st-birthday celebration. Nemo included.

I'm pretty sure a cake smashing will be held at every pre-birthday celebration from here on out. Who doesn't love a good cake mess?! Especially with this cutie to accessorize it :-)

One thing that can and SHOULD be added to the bucket list is a Visit to an Aquarium. Since little Nykebear has a Finding Nemo obseeeesion, there just couldn't be anything more perfect. The one time my luck was actually good, being in Texas for that 'Bigger' Aquarium. This place was too awesome for words, even Nyke was speechless the entire time (despite the fact that he can't talk yet).

Kenny's family (Nyke's Daddy) was so welcoming and awesome for the entire trip. It's such a blessing to have great family support and love no matter where we are! I'm so happy that Nyke gets to grow up with two sets of grandparents that spoil him with love and fun!

Would I take on this excursion again? Abso-effing-lutely!! Besides the hiccups of bad luck, we all had such a blast! I mean 'Go Big or Go Home' right? There's nothing more worth my time then a ginormous crazy unpredictable amazing adventure! Leaving you with the many smiles captured :-)
